  • Read the nutrition label on most food items when deciding which foods to purchase
  • Get a better idea of what a “serving size” actually is
  • Use portion control to prevent overeating
  • Drink more water. The sugar content in beverages such as juice and soda can be very high
  • Choose healthier snack options to avoid foods with lots of sugar or salt
  • Make smart snack choices
